Holly Springs Pool Update / Swim Team
Dear Parents,
I apologize for the last minute cancellation of practice today. The chlorine level tested just above the recommended range, and we felt that those young eyes shouldn’t be in the water until the chlorine level settled down one more point to with the allowable range. Our number one priority is the safety of our swimmers, and the swim coaches test the water every morning before swim team practice to ensure that the chlorine level and pH are within the acceptable ranges set by the Cobb County Board of Health.
This was our second practice cancellation this season due to pool maintenance. Just as an FYI, the pool industry has been hit especially hard with the perfect storm caused by post-COVID supply chain and logistic issues (chlorine shortages) as well as labor shortages (lifeguards and staff). This is a universal problem, not only for Nautix locally (our pool management vendor), but for all pool maintenance companies across the nation. The owner of Nautix was on site last week to personally address our concerns and he explained a bit more about what is going on behind the scenes. I assure you that everyone is doing the very best that they can to keep the pools open - SAFELY - for all customers/swimmers.
The Holly Springs pool chlorine level settled into the acceptable range in the later morning and we will continue to monitor/test the water daily. Nautix is aware of the fluctuations and continues to make adjustments to keep us “in range.” They are also aware that we are hosting a swim meet on Wednesday and will ensure optimal pool conditions for our meet.
Thank you for your patience and for extending a little bit of grace to our coaches, volunteers, the Holly Springs Board, and vendors during this challenging time. We ALL want our kids to have a successful swim season and are doing the best we can under the current circumstances.
Thanks, all! Have a great week!
